Thoughts on the car park

A local correspondent has some thoughts on yesterday's Audlem car park story: "Lets face it, now that there could be a possibility for fining motorists for not parking within designated bays these Traffic Wardens, or whatever they are now called, will be vigilant. I wonder what jurisdiction these Traffic Wardens have in a free car park?

"Why not get the C&NBC to make the car park a pay and display then all the lines will be painted in double quick time. We could levy a charge in line with Leighton Hospital's, as it appears to be politically correct now to screw as much money out of every rural -------* as possible and return nothing."

*A small edit for the sake of younger readers.

Nigel Young has also written with an excellent suggestion: "Hi guys, with reference to the recent discussions about the Car Park. I know the folks of Audlem are a resourceful lot so here is a suggestion to get around the current problem. We should have a large piece of chalk hidden away from traffic authorities. This can be used to draw a line around your car once parked thus making a 'marked bay'. What do you think?"
