As keen readers of AudlemOnline may have spotted in yesterday's news, AudlemOnline scooped the village Website of the Year award for the whole of Cheshire on Thursday night.

Needless to say, we are delighted to be recognised with this prestigious award by Cheshire Community Action, the organisers of the Community Pride awards. Three wins of Website of the Year in recent years means it may not just be luck!

As editor, I was particularly pleased for the other webteam members – that's John Tilling, John Gunstone and Alvar Jones. During my frequent absences swanning off around Europe this year, John Tilling and Alvar have kept the news flow going.

John Gunstone, the technical genius behind the website, has now been working on AudlemOnline for almost ten years, always developing new techniques behind the scenes to create an operating system that even the technophobic editor can cope with, a considerable challenge.

This year has seen even more innovation with the installation of seven screens around the village which carry information from AudlemOnline, a system that the two Johns and Alvar work very hard on to keep all up to date.

Since we started AudlemOnline, we have now run around 12,000 news articles. That staggering number for a small village would not be possible if it weren't for the numerous organisations and individuals that create the news and events, run the clubs and societies and, of course, the businesses, and let us know what is happening.

Finally, we would not win these awards without being able to point to the amazing daily readership figures we publish every day on the Home Page, updated every hour. It's our readers' interest that make it all worthwhile. Rest assured, the webteam will raise a glass or three to you all when we next get together to celebrate once again being Cheshire village Website of the Year.
