A big thank you to Alvar Jones who has been keeping AudlemOnline's news coverage going since last Friday in the absence overseas of the two regular news hounds.

John Tilling – now returned from Australia – and the editor, who limped back from the ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) expedition to the Isle of Man (more on this shortly) last night, were often unable to keep up their normal work on the website and Alvar found himself in sole control over the weekend.

He had volunteered to help weeks ago after gaining experience on two local websites that use a similar system for posting news and photographs to AudlemOnline's. After learning about the editor's little foibles about short paragraphs, English rather than American spelling and punctilious punctuation, Alvar was ready to be let loose.

Imagine the editor's delight when returning to Audlem last night he found the website had seen its highest readership figure of the year with 2,878 readers clicking on yesterday. The message was clear – take as many holidays as possible and leave the website to others!

Our thanks also to alert local residents such as Judy Evans of Williams' newsagents and Katie Shannon for sending in news of the Co-op break-in and the accident on Woore Road yesterday. We do depend on stories such as these which attract so many people to AudlemOnline.
