Text votes needed

Heidi Browne, local singer-songwriter is through to the National Finals of singing competition Open Mic UK.

From 10,000 entrants she is down to the final 25 acts and will perform this Saturday at the NEC in front of a panel of judges including radio DJ's and representatives from several major record labels.

The selection process: each act will perform one song before the live audience and they will be judged on several key criteria including 'star quality' and 'originality'. The judges' scores will be counted and the top three acts will be announced.

This is where the public come in! In order to send an act through to victory, they must also have the highest number of public votes. The poll opened on Tuesday and will close on Saturday night after the last performance.

To vote for Heidi Browne to win, text 'OPEN81' to 86222. Each text is a vote and will cost approximately £1.
