Take a balloon flight

Last year, we were given a present of a Virgin balloon flight. We took off from Whitchurch Rugby club but as the wind was more Northerly we passed over Lake Combermere and the tower of Nantwich church before landing near Leighton Hospital.

Sometimes they take off from the Peacock Inn and somtimes, I think, from the golf club at Whitchurch. They have to land and pack the balloon back into the trailer as they can't turn round and fly against the wind! It is traditional to have a glass of champagne afterwards and this is provided.

I would thoroughly recommend the experience. You are so jampacked in the basket when you land that you don't get thrown about, although we did bump a few times. It is so quiet up there you can hear people talking, dogs barking etc. – brilliant.

There may be special offers at the moment due to the credit crunch. I know members of the Caravan Club can get one – it's in the latest magazine.
