Switched On and Ready!

Our Key Stage 2 children were ready to get Christmas started in style by singing on St James' Church steps at the Big Switch On event on Friday evening. Thanks to the Key Stage 2 staff team and children for all their hard work learning their words and songs ahead of Friday nights performance – The children did a fabulous job and it was great to see so many of you there!

I received a special thank you message in school this week from Nantwich Foodbank who wrote to thank us for the 89 kilos of food which were donated by our school for Harvest. They wanted to thank all of the families who kindly donated at this very busy time, as they anticipate there will be a great demand over the coming weeks and months.

We were visited by Tom Makin Bell from Autism Awareness on Tuesday. Tom gave the children an insight into how someone with autism views the world.
Year 2 welcomed relatives to be part of the Design Technology project on Tuesday afternoon and created some wonderful sewing of the Great Fire of London for the front of their topic books. It was wonderful to see them so focused and how creative their ideas were!

Congratulations to Maisy Goodwin, Harrison Saunders and Esme Hetherington Doyle who won the Year 5/6, Year 3/4 and the EYFS and Key Stage 1 categories in the recent eSafety competition with their fabulous entries and designs.

Thank you to Mrs Robinson-Cartlidge and Mrs Gavin for the delicious themed lunch based on Foods from Around the World they prepared for us all yesterday. Children matched the food they had eaten with places on a world map.

We held a parents and carers' information meeting about Phonics for Amethyst class this morning; Mrs Richardson and Mrs Maughan shared a range of ways phonics can be supported at home as well as outlining our approach to teaching this important skill in school.

This week's Praise Book children are:
Mrs Maughan's Class – Tilly Baxter
Mrs Hayward's Class – Mia Taylor
Mrs Richardson's and Mrs Burgess' Class – Riley Baxter
Mr Perry's Class – Chloe Sherwin
Mr Davies' Class – Ruby Milburn
Mrs Stoker's Class – Dylan Byrne
Mrs Bird's Class – Rai Baxter
Congratulations to you all!

Tidy Team -The winning class this week is Emerald – well done!
The winners of our Attendance Cup this week are Pearl and Ruby classes – well done!
School Dinner Menu – We will be serving week 1 menu next week
Prayers to Share this week – We pray for anyone who is suffering from stress or worries at this time.
Congratulations to our indoor athletics team who were enthusiastic and energetic participants at last night's Sportshall Athletics Competition at Brine Leas. Many thanks to all the staff and parents who supported the teams so well.
Despite a weather delay to our Active Audlem session this week, we were still able to share this wonderful wake up exercise together on Wednesday morning – thank you to everyone who joined us for this.

FASA
The FASA team will be busy manning their Tombola stall under the Buttermarket this evening as part of the Switch On celebrations – please do support them if you can.
We are all busy preparing for our Christmas Fair on Friday 9th December. As part of these preparations, we are sending out Christmas Cracker homework sheets for children to create special crackers for sale at the fair. Please look out for the special sheet about this in school bags.

Don't forget: All raffle ticket stubs for our Christmas Fair and any unsold tickets need to be returned to school by Friday 9 th at the latest so they can be included in the draw at the Fair.

FASA would also welcome any donations of quality books, DVDs, uniform or unwanted gifts that you areclearing out pre-Christmas. Please send in any donations by Monday 5th December. Many thanks for your help and support with this.

ABC Childcare
ABC have some spaces for January intake for Pre School, please call ABC on 01270 748081 or 07786 985 110 or see a member of staff for further information. There are also some spaces at ABC's after school activities, the indoor sports after school club has proved very popular with the children this term! Please get in touch with ABC if you would like to find out more.

Dangerous and Inconsiderate Parking
Despite numerous reminders via our newsletter, there are still a small number of parents and carers who are failing to take heed of the warnings about the risk to the safety of pedestrians and local neighbours that dangerous and inconsiderate parking causes. Where vehicles are parked on pavements or block
access for emergency vehicles, drivers are causing dangerous obstructions.

After another report of such parking earlier this week, I have liaised with PCSO Nick Jarvis and he hasconfirmed that he will be issuing fixed penalty notices to any vehicle causing an obstruction when he spot checks outside school at the beginning and end of the school day. Such penalties will result in £30 fines.

I would urge all carers to consider where and how they park and give themselves additional time to park away from school and walk the final part of the way into school wherever possible so we can work together to ensure the safety of our children.

Christmas Lunch Orders
Don't forget! Our Christmas Lunch will be held on Wednesday 7th December this year. Letters for orders to be placed for this special lunch have been sent out in school bags this week. Please look out for this and return it to school before Friday 2nd December. Thank you.

Welcome!
We welcomed Mrs Wright to her new role as Kitchen Assistant in our kitchen this week, she joins Mrs Robinson-Cartlidge and Mrs Gavin and the children and staff have already made her feel very welcome!

Thank you
Thank you to Mr Jones (Eesha's Dad) who has kindly donated hi vis jackets for EYFS and Key Stage 1 to use on their trips and visits out of school. These are a great resource for school and much appreciated.
FASA have kindly agreed to purchase adult and Key Stage 2 jackets for the rest of school too which is a wonderful help.

Christingle Service
A reminder that the annual Christingle Service will be held at St James' Church on Sunday 11th December at 11am. This service is designed for families and as part of the service children make their own Christingle to take home. Church will provide all that is needed to make the Christingle. I hope many of
our families are able to attend this special service.

Finally
Many thanks to those parents who joined us for Parent Forum on Wednesday morning. A range of subjects were covered with some productive and useful ideas coming from the discussions we had.
The full minutes of the Parent Forum meeting will be distributed to all families soon; please look out for these in your child/ren's school bags.
