Regular readers of Audlem Online will be aware that for the last six months I have been campaigning for a refund which is due to those residents who paid up front for the garden waste collection service for the period up to 31st July this year.

I am now pleased to report that yesterday I had confirmation from Phil Sherratt, Cheshire East's Head of Environmental Services, that the refund will be made over the next few weeks – and you won't need to apply for it.

Since our first contact in June, Mr Sherratt has been trying to arrange for an automatic repayment of the refund. In his latest email, which I received yesterday he states "We have an operational list of all the people that should receive a rebate of a proportion of their annual payment for garden waste collections. We will be arranging over next week or two for cheques to be sent out. Please do not take any further action, as we will make all necessary arrangements. I apologise for any inconvenience and frustration we may caused in bringing about the refund."

This means that you no longer have to send in the claim form to Cheshire East. Just wait for a cheque to come through the post.
