Supermarket vs Oxtail & Trotter

As farmers and also shop owners we have been watching the current price wars between leading supermarkets on television. Hardly a day goes by when the likes of Sainsburys and Morrisons aren't trying to do each other over on price.

So we thought that we would do a little price comparison of our own with Sainsburys and this is what we found:

British chicken fillets: Sainsbury's £9.43/kg; Oxtail & Trotter £7.80/kg
British leg of pork: Sainsbury's £7.49/kg; O&T £7.25/kg
British pork loin steaks: Sainsbury's £9.99/kg; O&T £9.95/kg
Taste the difference sausages: Sainsbury's £8.43/kg; O&T £7.50/kg
21 day slow matured sirloin steak: Sainsbury's £25.00/kg: O&T £25.00/kg
Lamb leg steak: Sainsbury's £15.48/kg; O&T £15.38/kg
British dry cured back bacon: Sainsbury's £10.91/kg; O&T £11.20/kg

So on reflection we are delighted to say that out of the seven items we price compared we were only more expensive on our delicious back bacon by £0.29/kg or £0.01 pence per slice.

Not bad when you consider that you can buy the exact quantity that you require hopefully not creating any unnecessary waste.

We are big believers in quality and that starts with knowing where our animals come from. Not only that but we pride ourselves in keeping the food miles to an absolute minimum and support as many local producers as possible.

So please help us spread the word that Oxtail and Trotter not only have high quality locally sourced meat but we are also cheaper than a leading supermarket when you compare like for like products.
