Audlem Saints U10s football team recorded a super 3-0 vitory over Red Dot on Sunday. Red Dot are a good, well organised team sitting 3rd in the League. This promised to be a tough game but in windy conditions, Audlem played intelligent, fast, flowing football. Red Dot were swept aside.
This Saints team have played over 100 games together and the coaches cannot remember a better all round performance. Defenders were strong in the tackle, well disciplined position wise and organised each other superbly. Both boys that took turns in goal were very safe. The midfield worked as a unit with lots of quick "give & go" movements linking defence to attack. Saints midfielders bursting forward were given a choice of passes created by clever Saints running and movement.
Each of the three goals was finished off calmly without fuss. The Saints boys seemed happy to try skills and tricks and use of both feet for both passing & shooting was much in evidence.
This was an outstanding performance and sets the standard for the final part of the season. Saints currently sit 2nd in the league by 1 point (4 games remaining) and have a cup semi final looming large.
