Audlem's cricketers are hoping to build on the success that they achieved last season, when the 1st XI gained promotion from Division 3 of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance and the 2nd XI finished in mid table in Division 6 despite having a number of games against weaker opposition called off because of rain.

The new season starts two weeks today, on Saturday 25th April, when both teams play against Mossley. The 1st XI opens the season with a home fixture, whilst the 2nd XI has to travel.

Last year's 1st XI successful captain, Chris Shenton, again leads the team, but has a new vice-captain, Paddy Leese, to support him. The 2nd XI turns to youth and will be led by Toby Banfield, with last year's captain, John Wainwright, stepping down to vice-captain.

The Sunday XI, which plays friendly matches, makes the short trip to Woore on Sunday 26th April. Skipper Ollie Burney and vice-captain Phil Backas provide the youthful leadership of the side.

There will be a match every Saturday at the Gorse Croft ground. If you want to spend a pleasant afternoon from 2.00 pm onwards at one of the most scenic grounds in the league, enjoying entertaining cricket whilst tasting the products at the bar, do go and support the teams.

As usual, each week Audlem Online will bring you reports on the matches.
