More than 50 youngsters took part in the first coaching session on the playing field last Saturday, although there is still room for some more players to join.

This season two new coaches have joined the team, having themselves graduated from the ranks of the Audlem Saints youth. More aspiring coaches are always welcome – proper training in football coaching is arranged as necessary.

David Parry has already reported on Audlem Online a satisfactory start to the competitive part of the Saints' programme – last season's highly successful under-8s team has this year (logically enough) become the under-9s and notched up a 4-0 win against Wistaston Cubs in their first match.

Reuben Palin (Club Chairman) says that the Saints' would love to be able to field more teams for competitive matches, but this depends on parents being willing to ferry the youngsters to the various fixtures. He also stressed the "Fair play" aspect of the attitudes they try to instil into the young footballers (and even their parents) – not for them the aggressive surrounding of the referee whenever there is a decision they disagree with, and yet their competitve team continues to sweep all before them – is there a lesson here for Chelsea and Manchester United?
