The result in the General Election in the local Eddisbury seat was:

Stephen O'Brien (Conservative) 23,472
Robert Thompson (Liberal Democrat) 10,217
Pat Merrick (Labour) 9,794
Charles Dodman (UKIP) 1,931

The majority for Stephen O'Brien, who was the sitting MP, was 13,255. The turnout was 69.5%, an increase of 4.4% since the 2005 General Election.
