I won recently Service person of the Year for Staffordshire and Cheshire 2014! It was held at Crewe Hall where I received the award and they did an on-screen presentation in front of hundreds of people.
The presentation was from radio station Signal 1 and 2 presented by Andy and Lou.
I work as an Inter Hospital Liaison Officer at the Royal Stoke University Hospital of North Staffordshire and as a paramedic of West Midlands Ambulance Service.
I live in Crewe now but as I used to work at Audlem Fire Station I thought it would be of interest for Audlem.
The inter hospital liaison officer role was created by Kevin Parker divisional Matron of The Royal Stoke University Hospital created my role. I bridge the gap between hospitals and the ambulance service and as well as being on call for 999 emergencies.
I work with nurses and doctors, treat and refer patients straight to wards whilst in A+E assessment, ensuring the patient has the best experience possible whilst in A+E. It is a completely innovative post and unique role that no other Trust has.
This post really is flying the flag for Emergency Care and no other Trust has Paramedics under the line management of the nursing structure.
The reason why I received the award is because I and go into work at last minute notice, also for my past service as a retained fire-fighter on of those stations being Audlem, also I always work over my contracted hours for the care of the patients at hospital and I look after my children on my days off and have a very understanding and loving wife although she works a lot of hours in a very demanding job as a Cheshire family nurse practitioner.
The photo is with my wife Noeleen Rogerson who secretly wrote to Signal 1 about my work and looking after our 3-year old son and 1-half year old daughter on my days off.
