Audlem 1st XI remain top of Division 3 of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance and are still unbeaten this season following their seven-wicket win in a high-scoring game at home to Sandbach on Sunday.

Sandbach won the toss and decided to bat first on a good batting track. Audlem's bowling attack restricted the scoring as the visitors were 131 for 6 after 36 of their allotted 48 overs. Sandbach's opener Mark Olpin made a steady 56. However when John Matthews came to the wicket, the tone of the game changed as he thrashed a quick 69. Sandbach's innings eventually closed on 220 for 9 with Stuart Elkes, Lyndon Woodcock and Graham Jones sharing the wickets.

In their reply Audlem went after the runs from the start. Openers Andy Capper and Chris Shenton were both out trying to force runs. Paul Dean and Tom Measures took the score to 143 for 3 before Dean was bowled for 77. Measures was joined by James Little and they saw Audlem to victory at 221 for 3 in just 33 overs. Measures finished on 39 not out and Little 63 not out. Audlem took 20 points and Sandbach 12.

On Saturday the 1st XI are at home to Ellesmere Port whilst the 2nd XI travel to bottom-placed Capenhurst in their Division 5 fixture. Both games start at 2pm.
