Square with few signs

Ian Jones from Hankelow has sent Audlem Online an interesting photo of Audlem Square taken in the 1950s.

Those that voted in the Vote Poll about what to do about the multitude of directional signs in the centre of the village may be pleased to see the relatively uncluttered monument.

Ian says that it's interesting to note that the road to Nantwich has priority. Were the 'keep left' signs just for show? He adds that there's no fear of the Austin A35 or the Ford Pilot getting booked for illegal parking!

The Churchyard looks pretty scruffy compared with today – no Best Kept Village Award that year.
