Editor's comment:- After clearly a very enjoyable dinner Adrian has written this very positive review!
"Always keen to try new ventures and initiatives in the village, we gathered together some family and friends to book a table of 6 for the first evening of the Lord Combermere Dining Club. We were not disappointed." Adrian Farrow
The concept is simple – a tasting-style menu with two choices of starter and main featuring excellent dishes you won't find on the Lord C's usual menu.
Chef Tom, whose CV includes working at some of the area's favourite eateries and also with Michelin-starred chef Simon Radley, produced a delightful array of 5 courses plus palate cleanser, each beautifully crafted and artfully presented. It is a testament that he subtly accommodated a specific dietary requirement without compromising the menu.
Each course was complemented by the optional wine pairings from the Nomad collection, expertly chosen by Rachel – I certainly wouldn't have imagined the Moscato d'Asti to accompany the delightful beetroot carpaccio and who would have thought a Valpollicella would complement the dark chocolate crème dessert so well?
Rachel was the perfect host and her descriptions of the dishes and wine pairings enhanced the whole experience in the Lord C's recently revived restaurant area.
The Lord Combermere Dining Club is a welcome addition to Audlem – adding to rather than competing with the other dining opportunities. Available on the third Thursday and Friday each month, with bookings already into December, it's going to be a regular fixture on our calendar.
