Yesterday we ran a story about the leisure magazine Canals & Rivers as it features Audlem Locks on its front cover and includes an extensive article on the Shropshire Union canal. There are also pictures of the Shroppie Fly pub and the locks at Hack Green to the north of Audlem. Canals & Rivers is available at Williams' newsagents, price £3.10.

We've now been contacted with the following observation: "With reference to the story about Audlem being on the front of Canals & Rivers....all the more interesting is a quote from the article inside! 'This is a lovely village, and well worth a stroll up to the church. Note the wooden hutted charity shop, where a gang of ladies wait to flirt with male customers.' Well! now we know what REALLY goes on there ..... it's shocking. I always wondered why there were queues of men outside!?!"
