Small Deer Update!
Bambi was successfully dart sedated yesterday afternoon at 3.30, the Vet found several scratch marks along the abdomen we think from trying to escape yesterday through the hedge and brambles. Also a slightly raised temperature caused by stress and dehydration, which will be treated.
They have taken her back to Stapeley for X-rays, if no internal injuries she will then be safely released back into the wild.
A huge thank you to A.O.L. for acting so swiftly in publishing the story to the news page yesterday, which resulted in the wonderful people of Audlem rallying round, – your concern and offers of help were very much appreciated.
Finally our local wildlife centre RSPCA Stapeley, who today went above and beyond in achieving what their National office miserably failed to do the day before!
Ladies you are a credit, your compassion, empathy and pure dedication to the work you do is exemplary. I truly and sincerely thank you for not giving up on me, but more importantly giving Bambi the care she needed to survive.
Thank you
Marilyn
Hello AOL,
Absolutely heartbroken to inform you Bambi didn't make it!
Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre battled all last evening to save her, but eventually the very difficult decision was made to put Bambi to sleep.
I think we will all take solace that the end was calm, peaceful with Bambi surrounded by some wonderful people who really cared for her.
Thank you
Marilyn
