This week being half-term, there is every chance of a few "slow news" days. So your intrepid canal hole reporter discarded his wellies and set off in the sunshine to help out the Audlem Online editors by describing recent happenings at Bennett's Bridge.

Oh woe is me, it is indeed a slow news day: nothing has happened! But there were still plenty of spectators to watch nothing happening.

The hole looks the same as it did in last week's Audlem Online photos, the pumps are still humming pumping water around the site of the hole, and the white-van men are still sitting in their vans.
I tell a lie, something has happened: a giant rubbish skip has appeared on site, so if the pop-up snack bar appears again, spectators can keep the site tidy.

One of your previous correspondents reported that there is a warning of guard dogs being about. Indeed, a guard dog was spotted hanging around as you can see from the photo, having failed to scrounge biscuits from the white-van men.

Let's hope for more excitement soon: the hoped-for Easter opening approaches.
