Cheshire East Council's Skills and Growth Company celebrated its move to a new office and their first six months of operation with an open day.

The event took place at their office at Sandbach Enterprise Centre, on Wesley Avenue, Sandbach, on November 1st.

The Council's latest arms-length company has achieved some notable successes to date, including substantial sponsorship for the Tour of Britain's Cheshire Stage Three.

Other notable projects include the continued success of the Connecting Cheshire superfast broadband roll-out, which has now reached more than 92,000 additional premises, and the Fairerpower low-cost energy initiative, which has gained almost 8,000 customers.

Other successes include a district heating joint venture with Engie, the launch of an inward investment campaign and a successful £900,000 EU funding bid to boost careers advice across the sub-region.

Councillor George Hayes, chairman of the Skills and Growth Company, said: "I would like to thank the Sandbach Partnership for making us so welcome in our new office and to thank all our staff for making such a great start to our first months in business.

"We have ambitious plans for the coming months and hope to announce details of a further roll-out of superfast broadband and extending the range of our business support services in the near future."
