In recent months, weeks and days I have been surprised and alarmed whilst walking, at being on the receiving end of a silent cyclist coming from behind and brushing my shoulder as they depart, often with mild abuse into the bargain as they go.
I do not remember seeing that the law which says ( A cycle shall be equipped with an audible warning of approach) has been repealed.
A timely warning can be delivered by the simple expedient of fitting a bicycle bell.
Why have I not seen or heard a single bicycle bell since cycling re-emerged as a major pastime ?.
Does the cycling fraternity not know that they break the law, or does it not care.
I write as someone who has cycled thousands of miles when this law was enforced.
