The Shroppie Fly is probably the best-known business in Audlem and a vital part of the village's tourist appeal.

Sitting by the canal outside the Shroppie, pint in hand, watching narrow boats and the world drifting by on a sun-drenched afternoon – it's a memory etched in the minds of many a local and visitor alike.

In mid-October, long serving licensees Kate and Andy left the pub and temporary managers Keith and Doreen took over. Rumour has it that a refurbishment is planned in the New Year.

Already a number of regular 'Shroppie events' such as the Monday Music Jam session and the Bagpipe & Hurdy Gurdy Day on November 10th have migrated to the Bridge Inn.

Pub enthusiasts and many others will be desperate to see the pub restored to its former glory, attracting visitors and locals alike to Audlem Wharf.

Accordingly. AudlemOnline has asked Punch Taverns, lease holders of the Shroppie, if future plans are known as yet and if new licensees have been appointed. More on this as soon as we have news.
