Dave Martin writes: "Audlem's moved again! First we try to sneak into Wales, now we've moved to Crewe (heaven help us!).

"In yesterday's Sunday Telegraph news section, the Shroppie Fly is listed in the 10 best waterside pubs in Britain. A well deserved achievement for the pub and the village. But British Waterways, who made the selection, state it to be in Crewe! Bah humbug!

"But there again, some of us waterways cynics will hardly be surprised: the "powers-that-be" in BW seem to know very little about the canals these days!"

Audlem Online adds that only one of the 10 pubs was pictured in the feature – the Shroppie Fly. The photo's rural setting should be enough, we think, for most who know south Cheshire to see that the pub is in leafy Audlem. The pub has also featured in a number of TV programmes in the past year, the last only two weeks ago, which should help it get over the identity crisis and attract more visitors to the village.
