The Short-ARS walk tomorrow morning will be on an alternative route to originally planned. The walk will be on the Sandstone Trail around Rawhead where underfoot conditions should be reasonable despite the recent downpours.

The September walk was to have been from Loggerheads and taking in Blore Heath, scene of a major battle at the start of the War of the Roses. However, it passes over extensive farmland and was likely to be badly waterlogged in places.

As reported yesterday on Audlem Online, one local resident has measured 106.2mm of rain from Sunday at 5.00pm to lunchtime Thursday and says he has never recorded anywhere near as much in 24 hours as at the start of that period.

The Loggerheads walk will be re-introduced into the Short-ARS schedule at a suitable date.

It's a 9.30am meet-up tomorrow morning on Audlem car park and then a 30-minute drive. The walk is around 5-miles and there are a number of short but moderately steep inclines.

The weather forecast is, at present, reasonable and the walk offers fine views over Cheshire, North Wales and even to Liverpool. The walk will be led by Bob Cartwright.
