This coming Saturday's Short ARS walk is organised by Christine Johnson who describes the walk as follows:

A circular relatively flat walk of just under 6 miles starting at the Horse and Jockey at Grindley Brook. The walk is initially primarily over fields and pathways and we pass the old "St. Chad's" at Tushingham where there is a restored horse drawn hearse in one of the outbuildings.

We return to Grindley Brook along the Llangollen Canal. There are numerous stiles on the walk and sheep with lambs were in a number of fields on the recce.

The walk will NOT be like the recce where we came across blocked paths (now reported to the West Cheshire footpath officer), got lost, stuck in mud, chased by cows and entangled in electric fences!

Steve (ex landlord of the Lord C) has agreed to let us park at the Horse and Jockey (please park behind the pub – not in main car park) and he will open the front doors so we can use the toilets.

You will also be able to pre-order food for after the walk should you so wish. It would be nice if walkers could at least have one drink to show our appreciation to Steve for letting us park there.

We have done this walk once before on the day of an ARS Xmas dinner in, I think, December 2010.

9.00am start Audlem car-park or, if you prefer, meet at Horse and Jockey at 9.30am approximately.
