This week's Short-ARS walk (Saturday July 25th) is a 6 mile circular, starting from the Dusty Miller pub car park. A short stretch of road takes us over the canal and out of the Wrenbury cum Frith end of the village. We then take footpaths above the River Weaver and across farmland to skirt round Baddiley Mere and Reservoir – a pleasant coffee break spot, if fine.

From there we continue past Baddiley Hall and onto the Llangollen canal, which leads us back to our starting point through the Wrenbury Heath end of the village.

The terrain is flat throughout, across farm fields, with 8 stiles, mostly dog-friendly. A couple of the stiles are in poor condition, but still usable (long trousers advisable!). There is a short muddy stretch along one path, and we have to walk around the edge of one field where crop has grown over the official path.

Wrenbury is surrounded by dairy farms so there are likely to be cows in one or two fields, which maybe frisky (as we found on our recce), so dog owners please note.

Meet at Audlem car park at 9.30 am.
