This walk will be led by Chris Knibbs, a 6 mile route from Hough to Blakenhall Moss
Meet on Audlem car park 9:30am.
Drive 6m to Hough Common on Cobbs Lane. Park on Hough Common Car Park, map ref SJ714 506.
A pleasant walk over fields and tracks encompassing the parishes of Hough, Chorlton, Blakenhall and Lea.
It may be wet underfoot and muddy in places, which you would expect at this time of year, so please come suitably attired. There are several stiles all dog friendly except for one on the return leg (you will have to hoist your dog over this one!).
Our route takes in a number of paths which will disappear when HS2 happens. Part of the walk will take us along quiet country lanes and there is a very short section on Cobbs Lane, which can be busy, When we did the recce there was no livestock in the fields and we saw redwings, fieldfares and skylarks. There are some good views across the fields towards Mow Cop and Bickerton/Beeston can be glimpsed. The walk is mainly flat with only 160 metre of ascent.
NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
