SFBB – Buerton not forgotten

At the Parish Council meeting on Monday evening, Councillors were reassured that the Eastern outer reaches of Audlem as well as Buerton were to be included in the bid for funding from the RDPE (Rural Development Program for England) for Superfast Broadband (SFBB).

This is also confirmed in the Around Audlem Newsletter that has been arriving in letterboxes throughout the village this week.

This bid is for the funding required to bring superfast broadband to the areas of Cheshire defined as being in the 10% "hard-to-reach" bits – the reason that Buerton was not specifically mentioned in the article on the Connecting Cheshire website -click here – (to the consternation of at least one chatbox enquirer) was apparently that 'Audlem' in this context includes all remaining areas covered by the Audlem telephone exchange, which therefore includes Buerton.

So it is not in fact another underhand attempt to drive Buerton ever deeper into its rural obscurity and it looks as though, providing the funding bid is successful, Buerton residents will be able eventually to enjoy the delights of the same high-speed access to AudlemOnline as the rest of Audlem.
