Serial vegetable thief

It is with regret we have to report the presence of a serial vegetable thief in Audlem. He/She appears to operate at weekends only but has for the last three weekends stolen large quantities of vegetables from the "Honesty Box" at Lock 9.

The extent of the thieving has forced us to close the box at weekends. However we are concerned that regular customers may be disappointed. If you do use our box and want vegetables at the weekend please contact us on 811070 and we will deliver. Should the thief read this and if you undertake not to continue by placing a suitable note in the box with the outstanding payment, all will be forgiven.

It seems a tragedy that after 25 years of true honesty in this beautiful village that someone has so belittled its reputation.
