Second Co-op tranche for ADCA

Thank you for your tuppences!

You may have already seen the Co-op's own announcement of their second payout from the Co-op Community Fund 2021-2022 to Audlem Charities here https://www.audlem.org/news/coop-community-payout.html.

We are very grateful to those residents of Audlem and District with Co-op Membership Cards who chose to direct the Community Fund element of their Co-op purchases to ADCA.

Laura Stevenson, ADCA's Carers Support Worker, was on hand to receive the funds on behalf of ADCA and here she is alongside Co-op representatives, surrounded by the lovely news!

What we did with the money

ADCA applied for these funds in October 2021 with the aim of offsetting the ancillary costs of re-invigorating our lunch and coffee clubs for elderly, isolated or vulnerable people in the community as we came out of the worst of the pandemic and its restrictions.

This was quite a challenge, as we had to work out how to safely increase numbers without increasing risks. A rota system was devised to allow people to be sure of at least one attendance per fortnight, and this has been very successful. We were also able to offer a small number of supported places in these clubs to people living with dementia, which allows those who are caring for them to enjoy some welcome respite.

By shopping at our local Co-op in Audlem with a Co-op Membership Card you can directly help local organisations. It only costs a pound to get a membership card if you don't have one already. New causes are chosen each year in October. Every time you buy Co-op branded goods or services and use your membership card, 2p in every pound goes to three local charities. You can specify which charity you would like to receive your 2ps, or you can let the Co-op distribute them equally among the charities.
