Field Trip News, Sport and Lots of Work and News to Share!

Our Year 6 children have been busy selling poppies in school over the last few days ahead of Remembrance Day. This year we have also been supporting the British Legion by selling wristbands and other poppy products, which have sold like hot cakes! Poppies will continue to be on sale at break times each day until Friday 8 th November.

Pearl and Sapphire Class visited the Heritage Centre at Macclesfield Museum on Tuesday 22nd October. They had the chance to dress up as Victorian school children and experience lessons as they would have been long ago. They experienced three Victorian workshops at the Old Sunday School including the Victorian Schoolroom, Cottage and Parlour and Object Handling. The children handled artefacts that were over one hundred years old. They became history detectives as they decided the purpose for each object, they looked closely to draw the artefacts and then labelled them. The children enjoyed learning about rich and poor children in the past, their clothes, toys and homes.
All the children agreed that they would prefer to be a child living today rather than a child in the Victorian period due to the many hardships they faced.

On Friday, our Year 5 & 6 Football Team travelled to Weston to take part in their first 2 fixtures of the year. The team played exceptionally well, getting stronger and working together more as the games went on. Despite the poor weather, all players worked hard and represented the school admirably. Well done to all who took part.

The gardening club this week have been working hard on making bird boxes with Mrs Feast and Andy from the Audlem Wildlife & Ecology group who very kindly donated 4 bird boxes to go up in our school grounds. Over the next half term the bird boxes will be placed in our grounds to attract birds for nesting.
