Save Audlem's Future Existence

Say 'No' to Car Parking Charges

Summary

If you are against the addition of Car Park charges in Audlem car park, please JOIN a demonstration planned for Saturday November 4th at 11.00 am, and HELP us show Cheshire East the amount of support against the planned charges for Audlem.

We are asking protesters to gather at Tollgate Drive by 10.45, and to follow the route as shown in the image – thank you.

We have a right to challenge parking policies so we hope the end result of our demonstration march on Saturday November 4th at 11.00 am will help to remove unnecessary and excessive planned parking restrictions and unfair parking charges.

The small group of us who are arranging this peaceful protest are keen to minimise any disruption to the lives and welfare of our fellow Audlem residents, but maximise the effect and hopefully embarrassment it will cause to Cheshire East Council who have clearly never even visited our village before proposing their plans!

We are asking as many residents/families as possible to gather with us at 10.45 am on Saturday off the main road in Tollgate Drive ( see planned route photo ). At 11.00 am our organiser Brian Bugeja will say a few words and the funeral carriage and horses will set off. We will walk from Tollgate Drive to the Monument in the centre of the village and up to the car park where, after a short speech from Brian, we will disperse quietly!

The march will only last for approximately 30 minutes, and we would like to remind parents that horses do get jittery sometimes, so probably best to view from afar!.

We are hoping that some of you will be bringing your own home made posters – just think about what effect it will have on you personally:

  • Paying to take your children to school, the park to play or for sports training.
  • Paying to visit our medical centre.
  • Paying to use our 'free' toilets!
  • Paying to bring our elderly/infirm residents to their life enhancing clubs in the Public Hall.
  • Paying to attend our local clubs and societies.

The list is endless. We have passed details of our march to the police and we have a group of High-Vis volunteers who will be holding back the traffic from Whitchurch/Market Drayton, Woore and past the car park at Cheshire Street for as little time as possible, so apologies in advance if you are held up during the march or are unable to leave the car park for a short period. We also have a first aider and have instructions in place should the emergency services need to get through.

Nothing strengthens injustice as much as silence so we want to be seen and heard! We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible on Saturday, to strengthen our resolve. This is just the start.
