Saturday afternoon extravaganza

Yet again, the Shroppie Fly last Saturday hosted an afternoon of acoustic musical fun.

Over 30 performers turned up from as far away as Congleton and Oswestry. The music was indeed varied: songs of the sea, hare chases, pornography (a librarian really), music hall etc etc.

Tunes from Ireland, Scotland, England and France were played: Wales didn't get a look in! The Tennessee Waltz was crooned (badly by your correspondent) and then Sweet Caroline and skiffle to the accompaniment of a ukulele, and an occasional dog scrap seemed to keep the pub entertained.

Oh what fun!

The rugby on TV in the back bar seemed mundane in comparison.
