santa and sleigh

On Friday night, I was driving down the roads and lanes to help Round Table and the sleigh with their travels round Wrenbury. Down dark and empty ways and it was most surprising to see how many moths were in my headlight beams. This at 4c in December. So strange, but very handy for the bats in their night hunts . A good dry night with lots of little and large helpers as we traveled , knocking on doors etc .

Then Saturday morning I was off again at 0715 to drive to Queens Park , Crewe- to again assist the good men of Round Table in their appearance there during the ParkRun event.

Some 150 gathered from 0830 to 0900 to do the run round a three mile course of the park . Ages from 7 to 70 plus ! Every Saturday morning .

Great stuff . On as I was a dry morning is chilly.

Queens Park. If you have never been to it, I highly recommend you so do . A magnificent calm ,big green area- tucked away on a back lane . Opened in 1888 by the dignitaries of those days. The whole 45 acres a gift by the London and North Western Railway Company in the glorious times of Crewe becoming such a hub for the rail ways then.

A 4.5 acre lake therein and such glorious path ways ,affording lovely walks . A cafe too for your refreshment .

A superb Victorian Clock Tower from 1988. A outstanding statue to the fallen of the Boer war.

I do recommend you do visit this wonderful oasis in the mass of Crewe .

Audlem F C . From Santa to the cor blimey .

No football for Audlem F C this weekend ,as our opponents could not muster a team .

So our last game of this somewhat tortured Covid year is on the 19th away.
