Saints top table with 100% record

Audlem Saints U8s football team will go into the second half of the season on top of the table. A victory today made it 6 wins from 6 games. Betley provided the opposition and the game was a good one. Audlem dominated the first two periods without scoring. Shots from close range, long range, from left and from right were all saved or narrowly missed the target. The Betley goalkeeper deserves credit for a super game.

Full marks though to the Audlem boys who refused to get frustrated and kept playing good football in the hope that it would be rewarded. Eventually, the deadlock was broken. A strong Audlem tackle won possession of the ball and then 3 swift, accurate passes moved the ball to a player in open space and he calmly slotted it home.

That goal seemed to relax the Audlem team and another two goals were quickly added. The 3-0 win was a fair result in the end. There's no game next weekend but then it will be 2nd placed Cougars who provide the opposition.
