Saints' season underway

Audlem Saints began the U10s football season on 7th September and, as last season's League and Cup Winners, everyone wants to beat them! The team is packed full of boys who are not only good footballers but excellent cricketers, tennis players and golfers.

A summer playing sports certainly showed in the first game (Vs Nantwich, 7th Sep) as Audlem struggled to find any footballing fluency! Twice they went behind but twice they fought back to level the scores. A gritty, determined performance that earned a point that for most of the game seemed unlikely.

The second game was against Boca Juniors, last years League runners up. As always, the game was very competitive and very good to watch. Audlem played with skill and passed quickly and accurately. They created many chances and with a little more sharpness in goal could have scored many more than the two that came their way. Both were scored by the excellent right sided midfielder. Boca deserve huge credit as they played the game a man down but worked doubly hard to compensate. The final result was 2-1 to Audlem.

So, the new season is underway with a draw and a win. Next week, Audlem play Cougars – another strong side.
