This week's opponents for table topping Saints was the bottom placed team Crewe FC Terriers, without a win in 5 games. Perhaps it was complacency, perhaps it was the windy conditions or the bobbly surface, but whatever the reason, Saints turned in a lacklustre performance.
Whilst never looking like losing the game (Terriers did not have a single shot on target) Saints largely let themselves down. Passing was poor, work rate not high enough and finishing was slack. The 2-0 victory secured the points but the performance was instantly forgettable ....such a shame after a scintillating performance last week. They say it's a mark of a good team to play poorly and win so that's the positive angle to take from this one. Everyone's entitled to an off day so we won't be worrying too much.
With 7 games played, Saints are still top having won 6 & drawn 1 . Next week, Saints are away to Boro Boys with a 10am kick off again at The Barony.
