Audlem Saints U10s football team beat The Cougars 3-1 on Sunday. The opposition were a well organised and committed team and so it took a patient approach to break them down.
The first period was goalless but to their credit the Audlem boys kept the simple passing game going to create opportunities. The first goal when it came though was courtesy of route 1! Saints' goalkeeper intelligently cleared long and quickly to find a striker in space. A neat turn left the defender stranded before an accurate finish from the edge of the box. A second goal was quickly added, this time a wonderful finish to a fine passing move. Saints added another well worked goal near the end. Special mention to the Saints defenders who worked tirelessly and were denied a deserved clean sheet only by a penalty.
A very solid, team performance which takes Saints to 2nd in the table, just 1 point behind the leaders.
