Audlem Saints U10s football team played the strong Nantwich Town team on Sunday. The first period saw Audlem play some wonderful stuff and the 2-0 lead that they established was the least that they deserved. Quick, flowing passing movement, great running off the ball to create space and good decision making created plenty of chances. After such a good start, concentration wobbled (or complacency took over!) and Nantwich rightly punished the Saints. They scored with a super long range effort & then levelled the scores with a scrambled goal. The Saints response though was determined and immediate. They again began to create chances and when one was calmly tucked away the game was won 3-2.

The victory secures runners up spot at least in the league. With 2 league games to play, Saints are guaranteed to finish 2nd or higher. To actually win the league they need to win the last 2 games & hope that the current leaders slip up (which looks unlikely). Saints have won or been runners up in the last seven league competitions that they have played in!

No game next week (Easter) then just the final two league games and a cup semi final (and possibly a final!) to play!
