Audlem Saints played in the U10s League Cup Final on Saturday and were beaten 3-0 by Boca Juniors.
The Cup Final was a pretty close affair, the score line not really reflecting the balance of play – though Boca were deserved winners. Audlem played well in the first period but could not get a goal. Boca took the lead midway through the 2nd period with a long range effort and after that Audlem were always chasing the game. The team were not at their best here and two late goals sealed the final for Boca.
Boca deserve praise for securing the League & Cup double with Audlem finishing 2nd each time – only fair as last season Audlem completed the same double with Boca in the runner up spot!
Disappointment on the day then but another good season for the Audlem Saints in which only 4 of 40 games were lost and the Community Shield was won along with League & Cup runner-up medals.
Formed in September 2005 as an under 7 team playing in an U8 league, they have just completed the U10s season. The honours list to date is impressive;
