ASC Saints U11s football team entertained Nantwich Town on Sunday. Previous encounters had been tight games, often drawn and this one promised to be similar with the two sides locked in battle at the top of the league.

In the event, the game was of good quality and plenty of skill but the Nantwich boys scraped it 2-1.

The first half belonged to Saints and the 1-0 half time lead could/should have been more. Nantwich were on top in the second half and having scored from a corner they added a fine individual effort to go 2-1 in front.

Saints rallied and as the game got strecthed they had a few chances to equalise but couldn't do so.

The result leaves both sides joint top of the league on 39 points. Nantwich, however, have a game in hand. With just a handful of games left that could prove crucial.
