Audlem Saints U9s had a "double header" this weekend, playing on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game (Vs Nantwich Tigers) was a scrappy affair, to some extent ruined by the wet, blustery conditions. The game was settled by two neat finishes by Audlem players after good passing moves created the chances.

Without ever looking like conceding a goal, Audlem were made to work very hard for the points. The win made Audlem the joint league leaders with Boca Juniors, who provided the opposition on Sunday.

This top of the table clash was a super game but very tense for all concerned! Audlem had the dream start with an early goal to settle the nerves. The game was real end to end stuff with both goalkeepers performing miracles to keep out shots from all angles. Deep into the final period, Boca scored a good equaliser and a drawn game looked certain.

However, to their credit, Audlem kept playing neat football until the very end. With literally seconds to go, the game was settled when an Audlem midfielder smashed home from distance. The 2-1 win leaves Audlem at the top of the league table with just two games to go. A win and a draw will mean that the league championship won last time is retained.
