ASC Saints U11s football team stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games on Sunday with a hard fought 2-2 draw against title contenders Nantwich Town Tigers.

Played in difficult conditions, the game was a tight one throughout and both teams deserve credit for producing a good game. Saints opened the scoring after just 4 minutes with a brilliantly taken long range effort after good approach play.

The wounded Tigers bit back immediately though! They caught Saints on the break to equalise and then took the lead with a quick flowing move neatly finished off. Almost the final act of a pulsating first half saw Saints equalise with a well taken headed goal from a corner.

The second half was end to end stuff and the game became very stretched as the muddy pitch sapped energy. Lots of near misses but in the end, neither side could add to their tally.

The 2-2 final score was a fair reflection of a super game played in good spirit. The point taken consolidates Saints' postion as league leaders having played 10, won 8 and drawn 2.

Next week, it's a break from the league programme for the first round of the cup – Saints have drawn the Division 2 league leaders so it shuld be a good game!

Kick off 9.30am at Alex Soccer Centre.
