Saints edge towards championship

Audlem Saints U9s soccer team recorded another win on Sunday and edged towards retaining the League championship won last time. Betley Flyers were in opposition and both teams played well in windy conditions. It was Audlem though that had more control of the ball and smooth passing and moving created many chances.

Audlem scored three almost identical goals, all the product of slick passing moves, an intelligent pull back from the byline and a neat, clinical finish. A fourth goal was added late on with a longer range, more speculative effort.

The 4-0 win means that a draw in the final game of the current series of 14 games would secure the league title for a second successive competition. That final game is versus Nantwich and is at 3.30pm next Sunday.
