Saints dig in!

ASC Saints U11s made it 4 wins from 4 games yesterday, Sunday, with an unspectacular but deserved 2-0 win over Boro Boys.

On a bright morning at the Alex Soccer Centre, the boys took advantage of the smooth surface to roll the ball around from player to player in the opening minutes. Boro Boys struggled to stop the flow and a few good chances came Saints' way.

The best move of the match came early in the game when a great pass out of defence found the Saints striker. He beat two men before looking up and drilling in an accurate low cross. Right on cue, a Saints midfielder arrived to slot home (with his "wrong" foot too!).

Midway through the 2nd half, the lead was doubled with a neat finish after more Saints pressure.

The half time break seemed to galvanise Boro and they played very well in the 2nd half. Saints' passing was not up to its usual high standards in the 2nd period and the early momentum was lost. However, they were solid enough and never really looked in any danger, other than from long range shots (dealt with comfortably by Saints keeper).

The win maintains the 100% record this season and consolidates Saints' lead at the top of the South Cheshire League U11s Div 1.

Two tough looking games are coming up the next two Sunday, both at the Alex Soccer Centre and both with 9.30am kick offs. All support welcome! Next week it's Nantwich Tigers and the following week Red Dot FC.
