Saints played Cougars on Sunday, a clash of two sides with 100% records thus far. As expected, this was a tough, evenly matched game. The first period saw chances created at both ends but good goalkeeping and defending was the order of the day. A well worked passing move by Audlem created a half chance which was smashed into the bottom corner to open the scoring. Almost immediately, Audlem doubled the lead with a well taken goal after good work from the front man who drew a defender before sliding a pass to an unmarked teammate.

The tide turned in the second period and Cougars put Audlem under real pressure, scoring two goals to level the game. The third period saw Audlem in determined mood though. After a couple of minutes of pressure, an Audlem midfielder won the ball in a tackle just inside the Cougars half, beat two defenders and the goalkeeper and slotted home. Then a terrible mix up in the Cougars defence led to a handball and so a penalty to Audlem. The Cougars keeper pulled off a great diving save but was unable to stop the follow up shot. Audlem defended well from this point to win the game 4-2, the third straight win this season.

Next week, it's Alsager providing the opposition- yet another unbeaten team.
