Rain Doesn’t Stop Play at the First Safety Afloat Family Fun Day

Despite the weather, the Safety Afloat Family Fun RNLI Fund Raising Day, held at Overwater Marina on the 24th June, was a tremendous success.

The event has generated £1,240.45 for the RNLI and our thanks go to everyone for supporting this event.

A very convincing narrow boat rescue demonstration was carried out by the Cheshire Fire and Rescue with the Audlem and Nantwich Fire Service.

In addition, the Police Underwater Rescue Service and the Cheshire Search and Rescue Team displayed a wide range of specialised equipment for the public to view.   The RNLI were on hand to give free life jacket checks.

The helicopter from RAF Shawbury arrived on cue and remained on site for the whole event.

Members of Crewe Canoe Club also carried out simulated rescue exercises and demonstrated amazing canoe and Kayak skills and carried out so many Eskimo rolls that we lost count!

There were many exhibitors ranging from Craft stalls to the Owl Experience; Tractor Rides and Face Painting were well supported too; even adults were walking around with the odd dolphin painted on their faces!

In addition, the ’Fun Dog Show’ attracted some very interesting and brightly coloured pets indeed and this was all made possible by the Nantwich Veterinary Group who organised and generously donated the prizes.

On behalf of the Audlem Lass Boat Service we would like to thank the following for giving their time and support during this event.
