Running group news:

Audlem running group had possibly its chilliest run yet on Saturday morning as the mercury dipped below zero degrees. It was also one of our largest turnouts to date which is testament to the friendships that have developed over the past 11 months, the commitment of group leader Matt in planning the most beautiful runs combined with the durability of its members.

Individual endurance was tested further on Saturday evening as it was our first Christmas party and we got to exchange electrolyte replacer drinks with intoxicants of choice. We also got to share anecdotes and find out plenty more about each other in conversations minus the usual heavy breathing (author's own). Here are a few things we found out.

1. We are barely recognisable to each other with our clothes on.
2. Several members have rubbed shoulders with the stars -- Brad Pitt, James Nesbitt, Michaela Strachan and Robson Green (to name but a few).
3. We have our very own million dollar man Steve (Austin); a catacomb explorer; a daredevil tree-climber; a sex museum consultant and star of reality TV; someone you could trust your handbag full of cash with and another whose mates think that sticking a pair of women's legs in the back of your wife's car is funny! In addition, we have a wreck diver and a fully-trained RNLI crew member (even if the training didn't involve any contact with water) who will both be on hand to fish out any runner who ends up in the canal.

As these facts were obtained during a game played in the style of TV's 'Would I Lie to You' we also now know
4.) that Matt's prize for kite flying isn't true and so in future his predicted mileage for our weekly run can no longer be trusted!!!

We also played guess the baby photo with recorded levels of recognition demonstrating
5.) how good running is at preserving youth.
6.) We are already looking forward to next year's Christmas party.

A huge thanks to Jo and Allan and all at the Lord Combermere for the excellent food and service.

Audlem running group is taking part in a park run Saturday 7th December. Please meet in the village car park at 8am if you'd like to join us. We look forward to seeing you there.
