Running Group accept Challenge

In a break from our normal Saturday morning run format, an intrepid team from the Audlem Running Group accepted the challenge set by the Pau Run and Ride shop in the village and tackled the long version of the Orienteering course on New Year's Eve.

There is an alternative short course.
Displaying varying degrees of map reading skills with our noses pressed against the rain-streaked window of the shop, we headed for the first way-point running across muddy footpaths and very wet (and sometimes ankle-deep puddled) roads.

Having successfully navigated to point 1, we identified each of the subsequent markers following the grid references on the OS map app, working out the route as we went, finally ending up back at the shop for a celebratory photo.

Many thanks to Matt and the crew at the bike and running shop for setting the course — its a fun way to have a wander round the Audlem area and even visit some less familiar or forgotten corners. And what's more, it's free (as is the OS maps app if you don't want to carry a paper map!).
