Originally performed by Audlem Theatre company in Audlem Village Hall in 2022 we are bringing this murder mystery back to the stage along with the prequel, "The Hartley Wedding", new to the stage. It's 2 plays, 1 story.
Mokushla Theatre is a company I have set up in memory of my son Luke Hunter who I lost in a road accident last year.
Our family connection with Audlem is strong (I lived and worked in the village for years before moving to Shavington and now Nantwich) and, although Luke never lived in Audlem, he spent many happy weekends with The Poole family both at their farm and Audlem Chapel. He also enjoyed going to Granny's Pub (The Lord Combermere) and helped out on the gate at ASET's Party in the Park.
Because he had so many happy memories of the village, it seems right to share this experience with the village. I may even put in a sequin motif for my mum (May Hunter). The last play that Luke saw was "Room 13" performed in 2024 so, with old cast and new, we are putting on these 2 plays to remember the amazing young man that he was growing into. In both "Room 13" and "The Hartley Wedding", – there are new characters and stories which are inspired by ideas that Luke had whilst I was writing the prequel.
The cast includes Audlem Theatre company s Trevor Hough and Rebecca Dutton, who Luke enjoyed watching in pantos year after year having been a past member of Audlem Theatre Company, also performing in pantos as a child.
The full cast have shown an incredible passion for this project and it would not have been possible without the support from all involved. Now I need to sell the tickets so they can showcase their talents and we can remember Luke.
